Willow Basket Weaving Workshop

with Karla Powell

Basket-making is a craft that is as free of technology today as it was 10,000 years or longer ago when people first started seeing what they could fashion from what was around them. The transformation of a pile of sticks or bark into a usable or decorative object using little more than hands and basic tools gives deep-seated satisfaction.

Locally harvested willow will be supplied while our guest artisan teaches you weaving techniques that will advance you into the world of basket weaving. You'll leave with new skills, marvelling at what you've created and looking forward to what you'll make next.

Oh, and you'll also leave with your basket, of course!

Location: Early Dawn Farm

Date: March 4th from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

$89 per participant

NON-REFUNDABLE COURSE

A note from your Instructor, Karla Powell

"I have been working with willow for over 20 years and get such joy from crafting these useful and beautiful baskets from locally sourced willow along the Sheep River in Southern Alberta. I'm grateful to be able to share this passion with you."
