About Us
We are Dawn and Bruce Kay, founders of Early Dawn Farm. We are privileged to raise dairy goats and sheep in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Our forty-acre farm is an hour's drive northwest of Calgary, Alberta.
The boreal forest landscape provides excellent opportunities including high-quality hay production and fresh water, as well as challenges such as extreme weather patterns unique to the eastern slopes of the Rockies. Our goat dairy is located south of the hamlet of Water Valley. We raise a small flock of mostly LaMancha dairy goats. We purchased the land in 1987 with the primary goal of raising as much of our own healthy food as possible.
Additionally, we raise lamb, chicken, and ducks in a free-range fashion with the utmost respect for the animals. We have a few bee hives for our own food source. The hives are located near our large vegetable garden.
We are tremendously proud to grow food, serve, and be supported by our local community.
We'd love to see you out at the farm! Have you checked out our events and workshops yet?
