Workshop: Introduction to Chainsaw Operation for Acreage Owners

 

This hands-on workshop is designed for novice acreage owners looking to gain confidence and competence in chainsaw use. Whether you're managing trees, clearing brush, or cutting firewood, this workshop will equip you with the essential skills needed to operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently. You'll learn everything from basic safety protocols to the proper techniques for tackling small to medium forestry tasks on your property.

The workshop will take place at Early Dawn Farm, a sustainable homestead nestled in the scenic foothills of Water Valley, Alberta. Early Dawn Farm is dedicated to educating and empowering individuals to live more self-sufficiently. The farm provides a perfect setting for this practical, hands-on workshop, surrounded by the natural landscape that acreage owners often work with.

  • Starting and Stopping the Chainsaw: Step-by-step guide on how to safely start and stop your chainsaw with confidence.

  • Proper Cutting Techniques: Master the skills to make controlled, accurate cuts for a variety of tasks, including felling small trees, cutting logs, and clearing brush.

  • Basic Chainsaw Maintenance: Learn how to properly clean, sharpen, and oil your chainsaw to keep it in top working condition.

  • Troubleshooting Common Issues: Identify and address basic mechanical issues, such as chain problems or starting difficulties, to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
