Rustic Woven Willow Tray
with Karla Powell
Spend the day learning the traditional craft of willow weaving while creating a rustic woven tray of your own.
Using willow and a variety of natural weaving materials, you’ll learn the techniques needed to create a beautiful, functional piece that can be used on a table or displayed on the wall. We’ll also explore how natural materials suitable for weaving can be sustainably gathered and prepared — giving you practical knowledge you can take home and use beyond the workshop.
All weaving materials are provided, and no previous experience is necessary.
What to bring: Hand pruners, a sharp locking-blade knife, scissors, and a measuring tape.

A note from your Instructor: Karla Powell

I have been working with willow for over 20 years and get such joy from crafting these useful and beautiful baskets from locally sourced willow along the Sheep River in Southern Alberta. I'm grateful to be able to share this passion with you.
